Torben Fischer is an Economist at IDinsight, an international development data analytics and research institution. He is associated with the SFB through his work on "Health insurance, reforms, and impacts" (Project B7). His research focuses on applied topics in development economics with a particular focus on health insurance.
Torben holds a PhD in Economics from the Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics at the University of Mannheim. In his dissertation he assesses the presence of information asymmetries in low-income health insurance markets and studies mechanisms that allow to mitigate potential welfare losses. During his PhD, Torben was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and oversaw primary data collection for an impact evaluation in Pakistan.
