Our member Valerio Dotti will be participating at the Siracusa II - Research Conference Series on Migration in Siracusa, Italy, April, 25 - 26, 2017.

He will contribute to it by presenting his paper on "The Political Economy of Immigration and Population Ageing". 

 

14/04/2017: Guy Vanmeenen to visit the SFB

Guy Vanmeenen, Head Financial Services at Financial Sector Deepening Zambia (FSDZ) in Lusaka (Zambia), will be visiting project A9 & B7, April 28 - 29, 2017. He will discuss how Zambian saving groups can gain insights intothe concept of group insurance and learn from it.

27/02/2017: Vigile Marie Fabella to visit Mannheim

Vigile Marie Fabella, Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Konstanz (Germany), was awarded a price of the "Best Young Scholar Papers" at the SFB Conference "Inquality and Fairness of Political Reforms" in December 2016. In this context she is visiting the SFB to research on political economy, education economics, development economics and health economics from March 13 - April 4, 2017.

Amanda Driscoll, Assistant Professor at Florida State University (USA), will be visiting project C4 to work on judical reform projects across Latin America from March 9 - 15, 2017.


 

23/01/2017: David Fortunato to visit Mannheim

Former SFB 884 member David Fortunato, now tenured Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University (USA), will be visiting his old project C1, where he was a research fellow between 2010 and 2011. Together with his former colleagues he will work on the two projects "Electoral Institutions and Committee Memberships" and "Strategic Use of Splitting Bills in the Policymaking Process" and thereby visit the SFB from Febuary 8 - Febuary 28, 2017.

 

20/01/2017: Thomas König appointed to think tank "Frankfurter Zukunftsrat"

Our speaker Thomas König was appointed to the future think tank "Frankfurter Zukunftsrat". He will be part of the committee on politics and economics, consisting of six leading figures from this field, like f.e. Elmar Brok, chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Prof. Lars P. Feld, member of the German Council of Economic Experts.

11/01/2017: Annelies Blom appointed to the Supervisory Board of The Netherlands Institute for Social Research

The Dutch Minister for Health, Welfare and Sport has appointed our principal investigator Annelies Blom as a member of the Supervisory Board of The Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCP) for the period 2017-2021. SCP is a government agency which conducts research into the social aspects of all areas of government policy. The main fields studied are health, welfare, social security, the labour market and education, with a particular focus on the interfaces between these fields. The Supervisory Board has an important supervisory and advisory remit and advises on the Research Programme. It also monitors the scientific standard and social relevance of the work carried out by SCP.

 

07/01/2017: Eun Ryung Lee to visit Mannheim

Former SFB 884 member Eun Ryung Lee, now tenured assistant professor at Sungkyunkwan University (South Korea), will be visiting her old project B6, where she was a postdoctoral researcher between March 2011 and February 2016. Together with her former colleagues she will continue collaborating on text analysis research and thereby visit the SFB from January 21 - February 10, 2017.
