Benjamin Nyblade is currently Director of the Empirical Research Group at the UCLA School of Law, prior to that position he was an assistant professor in the University of British Columbia Department of Political Science (in Vancouver, Canada). He received his PhD in political science from the University of California, San Diego in 2004.

Nyblade's research has focused primarily on comparative political institutions, parties, elections and policy-making.  Much of his current research focuses on how international ties affect elections and policy-making, measurement and methodological challenges in the social sciences, public policy and law, and the intersection of empirical legal research and the social sciences. Previous research articles have been published or are forthcoming in journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research and Journal of Politics.
